O2 just released its pricing plans for iPhone 5s and we have one word to describe it – expensive. O2 will be selling the new iPhone 5s with gold hue under the “refresh” plan.
Under the “refresh” plan the cost is divided into cost of the device and the airtime that you bought with the device. To get 1 GB of 3G data, unlimited texts and messages will cost you £17 GBP. If you want a free 16 GB iPhone 5s with that, it will cost you £42 per month. The price goes up to £47 per month if you want 1 GB of 4G data.
You can pay £320 upfront for a 16gb iPhone 5s in which case the plan price goes down to £32. However you can simply buy an unlocked iPhone 5s directly from Apple for £549. In that case you can then simply buy a data plan which cost you less in the end.
To get the 5S free on 4G with1GB of 4G data every month will cost you £47, 24 times a year. To bring the cost of a 4G contract down to a more manageable £32 per month will see you paying a whopping £320 up-front charge.
O2, like other carriers, is not offering pre-orders on the iPhone 5s. It will go on sale on O2′s website at 12:01 AM on September 20th.
